Workshop FAQs
I've never used any tools before - can I still join?
Yes! This workshop is specially designed for novices and beginners who would like to start their D-I-Y journey to build their confidence and skills using tools. It's a great way to learn tools skills in a fun, low pressure, female-friendly environment.
Will I be supervised or left to free-range?
A bit of both. After a full introduction with demonstrations, you'll have the opportunity for supervised practice plus free play to work through tool skills. Sometimes you'll work solo, and other times with the group or a partner. A qualified trainer is always on hand to keep you safe and troubleshoot.
Do I need my own tools?
No, however, if you have your own or access to them, definitely bring them along because getting familiar by practicing on your own tools is ideal! Don't buy anything specially though because you'll discover the She Bangs tips for smarter tool buying.
What do I need to bring?
1. Closed toe shoes or boots 2. Clothes you're ok to get dirty/dusty (no singlets or baggy clothes) 3. A water bottle & Lunch 4. Your own tools (if you have them) 5. Reading glasses, if needed 6. (Optional) Additional PPE - gloves, apron (+ welcome to BYO safety glasses & hearing protection)
NOTE: Hair shoulder length & longer MUST be tied back
What are we making?
This workshop is skills-based, and is about building knowledge and confidence. ToolSchool isn't a woodworking program - it's focused on all kinds of D-I-Y, especially home maintenance and renovations. Once you know the skills and information, you can make anything!
Can I get a refund?
